On April 30, 2020, Chief Administrative Judge Lawrence Marks issued a Memorandum to all of the Trial Court Justices and Judges regarding updates to the operations of the New York Court System. Thus far, the virtual approach has been highly successful, with conferences being held on over 25,000 cases, and 1/3 of those cases being settled or otherwise disposed. More importantly, Hon. Lawrence Marks indicated that the next steps to go into effect would be as of Monday, May 4, 2020 where in new motions, responsive papers to previously filed motions, and other applications (including post-judgment applications) may be filed electronically . Additionally, new notices of appeal may now be filed electronically.
